1976 Time Capsule

The Minersville Area Bicentennial Committee was formed in 1976 as part of the United States 200th Anniversary Celebration. One event lead by the Minersville Women’s Club was the burial of a time capsule to be unearthed in 2026.

On June 24, 2026, Heidi (Laudeman) Hashin with the help of Mark Mahal, Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home, the Minersville Municipal Authority, Minersville Street Department and Minersville Police Department, the time capsule was located, dug and transported to the Borough for opening. After a week long “drying out” and cataloging of the items, the time capsule will be put on public display at the Annual St. Nicholas Picinic on July 4th and 5th.
